Bow & Arrow Candle Co.

I received this package in the mail a couple of days ago from Bow and Arrow Candle Co and I was overjoyed to see that my candles had arrived and in good time too. It came with a cute handwritten note as well which was such a great addition. To give you a better idea of what I’m talking about, Bow & Arrow Candle Co is an Etsy shop that sells lovely little handmade candles in quite interesting scents and bright colours.  The two that I ordered were Rain Water*and ‘Sex on the beach*. The reason I went for these candles were because they are soy candles and I was planning to convert to using 100% soy candles for quite some time now.
I only delayed it because I can be quite picky with scents and hadn’t found any that I liked up until now. Apart from having plenty of health benefits, soy candles also burn longer and hence a candle is proven to last much longer than the paraffin ones. The scents also last longer on the candle. If you’re bit of a hoarder like me and you might have candles from a year or two ago and want to burn them only to find that they don’t smell as strong as they used to can be quite disheartening. Soy candles make sure you don’t waste any candles since they can be quite expensive.

Rain Water:

This first scent is so serene, calming and fresh. I loved the name instantly because I love the rain and thought this could be a potential candle for burning on rainy days. It is described as “Rain Water is a white floral bouquet of carnation, lily and crisp white grapefruit. The heart is a radiant blend of jasmine, tuberose, cyclamen and violet. The base combines vanilla beans and East Indian sandalwood.” It’s a light, floral scent but it does have really good calming properties. After burning it for some time, I think I could smell the warmth of the sandalwood that balances the florals.

Sex On The Beach:

This one is a full blown extremely strong scented summer scent. There is no mistaking it. I could smell this the minute I opened the package while the candles had their lids on. My room smelled like a cocktail within minutes of burning this stuff. I think I like this one a little better although both serve different purposes and probably should be used at different times of the day if you are into that. It is described as “Sex on the Beach is a playful rendition of the classic tropical mixed drink that blends fresh pineapple and orange with tart cranberries. Notes of vodka and peach schnapps give this fragrance its "true to life" scent.” I’m glad I got this one so that I could try out a fruity scent, something very different from Rain Water.

Quantity: The shop sells candles in three size – 2 oz, 4oz and 8 oz. I picked up the 4 oz ones because they were a perfect size to try out the scents and go for a bigger size only when I’ve established I like a particular scent. However there’s also a 5 Candle Trial Pack available for testing out five tea light sized candles.

Price: The prices can vary depending on the scents you choose. The 4 oz ones are for $7 each.

Packaging: Very sturdy, minimalist looking packaging and if you have a similar theme going on in your bedroom, these will look good with that.

Lasting Power : These scents last for such a long time and made my room smell absolutely divine. The 4 oz ones typically have a burn time for 20-30 hours so it will last me a decent amount of time.

I’m eyeing the ‘Fresh Cut Grass’ novelty scented candle from her shop next because I was really tempted to get it the first time. Fresh cut grass in general is one of my favourite scents. I love all nature based scents so it will be interesting to try. More so now because I know how authentic these smells turned out to be.
