Dusty pink & a bold, burgundy lip!
January 27, 2017 • beauty, makeup
I thought I’ll pop in and share a
little makeup look I recreated/ put my own spin on yesterday. As you can probably
tell, this has been inspired by the lovely Lily Collins & her makeup in
this year’s Golden Globes a couple of weeks ago.
By now, we all know about it
and have gasped, oooh’d and aaah’d over her soft yet striking look on social
media. This look was however a spur of
the moment kind of idea as it started off with me testing out a new foundation,
which I plan to write a long post about (stay tuned!) and ended in this makeup look which I
was quite pleased with.
My Favourite Nude Lipsticks
January 20, 2017 • beauty, collections, makeup
I haven't talked about lipstick in so long on the blog and that it almost seems alien to me because I live for lipstick and collect too many shades that I don't necessary wear enough. However, this post is about all the holy grail shades that make my lips look flawless and pretty much go with every thing I choose to wear. When I was initially picking out my most worn lipsticks, I didn't expect them to be 7! Let's assume one for each day of the week then shall we? These are the shades I can pull out of my bag and put on any day or time and know that they'll save the day when my lips are looking not so classy. I've had two of these shades for 1-2 years now while others are more recent additions to the collection but they sum up my lip colour aesthetic at the moment pretty well.
#1 Makeup Revolution Amazing Lipstick - Treat
I've owned this one for more than a year now, this is the perfect pinky nude that is really creamy and moisturizing. I can apply this on the go and not be afraid of messing up. I would wear this constantly in the summer while I walked around in the sun and this colour would stay on for quite a long time, basically until I ate something. You know it's a good one when it passes the 'hot summer days' test!
#2 MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Laquer - Dash
This is one of my first attempts to venture into the wonderful world of liquid lipsticks. They had me at 'You don't have to touch up your lipstick every 2 hours' claim and I was buying these formulas left and right. MUA does some really amazing liquid lipsticks and this shade in particular is packed with pigment and caught my attention because it's so unique. It looks different in different kinds of lighting, skintones and the no of layers you put on. This is the least nude of all my picks and tends a little more towards mauve/ reddish tones but it looks fab when it's on and fairly neutral! The only issue is it does come off towards the centre of my lip after a while which I have to touch up eventually.
Case App Custom Phone Case Review & Giveaway (Open Internationally)
January 8, 2017 • lifestyle
'Caseapp' is a website that offers custom iPhone cases and Laptop skins where you get the full freedom to design your own on their website. Think marble, rose gold, copper, pretty much anything trendy you've spotted on social media and can't get your hands on, you can customize it and make it for yourself here!Even if you're not feeling particularly creative, there are literally 100s of fabulous premade designs to choose from and I found them really cute and unique! I spent days looking through all the designs and there wasn't one that I had seen before on Amazon or any other website. I chose the Matching Mix* phone case which was premade because I fell in love with it the minute I saw it. I was customizing a marble one myself anyway so that worked out just fine.
Goodbye 2016, Hello 2017 - A Blog Recap!
January 3, 2017 • blog recap, happy new year, lifestyle, personal
It is the 31st of December, 2016. I woke up and pinched myself. I couldn’t believe that this is the last day of 2016. This has been a crucial year for me because it’s the last year of my college/uni. I graduate in a couple of months and I have to be grown up and serious and figure my life out. I have to gather my dreams and ambitions and make sure I actually work towards them and not away from them.
It has been a phenomenal year for blogging too. I had my first post go viral (I doubt I can call it that haha but for the lack of a better word, let’s call it that). My ‘DIY Chokers for Spring/Summer: Six Designs’ post has over 34,000 views now which is so incredible compared to any other post I’ve written so far. I realized that if you put work into something, it always pays off! That one post took over 12 hours to make and I’m glad I did it.
On the flip side, my blogging has seen some lows too. Inconsistency, life getting in the way and my pending thesis has really stopped me from doing so much that I put down in my ‘blog’ notebook almost every single day. I hope 2017 will be the year I can finally devote a lot more time to blogging and give it a proper shot! What got me through some of these low days? Lots and lots of wonderful internet discoveries which I’ve documented in the ‘Bookmarks for Crappy Days’ Series this year.
