LA Girl Pro HD Pressed Powder Vs Freedom Makeup Pressed Powder
Freedom Makeup Pressed Powder Vs La Girl Pro HD Powder
I talked about this LA Girl Pro HD powder in my last post - here but I didn't go too much in depth about it. So today I am going to talk about everything that I think about this powder and compare it another drugstore powder from Freedom Makeup that seems to promise the same effects. I've been using the Freedom Makeup Pressed Powder for a month now( after I shattered my Rimmel Stay Matte) and wanted to try out other affordable drugstore powders that hopefully also keep my oily skin matte throughout the day. I picked up the LA Girl Pro HD Pressed Powder only a week or two ago especially because it's the powder version of the infamous Pro HD Concealors that are known for being amazing affordable products. So let's hop in it!

#1 Price:
The LA Girl powder costs $8.00 while the Freedom Makeup costs only £2 which is approximately $1.32  and it's extremely affordable when compared to the LA Girl.

#2 Packaging:
As the price suggests, I was expecting the L.A Girl powder to have much better packing. It does come with a decently sized and good quality mirror which is very handy and an extra sponge in the packaging. I also noticed that the packaging is an exact dupe of the Sephora Mineral powder and it would be interesting to know if the powders are actual dupes as well. (Let me know if anyone has tried the Sephora powder) The Freedom Makeup powder packaging is very disappointing. The plastic was very bad quality and the hinges are already coming out in mine.

#3 Description:
They both have a very similar description mentioned on their respective websites. They're both meant to be oil control, matte formulas for making your foundation last all day long or it can be used on it's own for a minimal coverage look.

#4 Shade Selection:
L.A Girl pressed powders come in 15 different shades and I think they have a fantastic range for so many different skin colours and undertones. I was able to find a perfect shade for me with a yellow undertone - Creamy Natural and I love how natural it looks on my skin once blended(especially now that I'm a little tanner in the summer). The Freedom Makeup powder lacks in this department. It comes in only two shades - Translucent and Fair. Since I was only looking at the website images, I sort of assumed that the Translucent shade would be neutral and I would be using it as a setting powder. However, as you can see in the images. the shade is very pink toned which doesn't suit my natural undertone and it also ends up looking a little chalky & not as finely milled like the LA Girl. I've also read some other reviews by very pale ladies who said the translucent was too dark for them.

#5 Staying Power:
The Freedom Makeup lasted around 3-4 hours on me before my nose and temples started to get oily. I do use a heavy sunscreen and foundation underneath so I like to keep my face matte all day. The L.A Girl performed much better and stayed on my face for 8 hours and I didn't immediately notice any visible signs of oil coming through. It was only noticed when I saw my myself very closely in a compact mirror but otherwise I just looked a little radiant and by no means oily.

#6 Ingredients:
The L.A Girl Pressed Powder is Paraben free while Freedom Makeup isn't. Both contain talc in their ingredients and both are cruelty free!
LA Girl Pro HD Pressed Powder Vs Freedom Makeup Pressed Powder
So the verdict is out. The L.A Girl Pressed Powder is clearly a much better product when comes to mattifying the skin in the summer and also for the easy to choose shade selection. I am big fan of Freedom Makeup but their pressed powder gets a thumbs down from me. Have you tried any of these two powders before?
